Thakur Harichand Guruchand Award 2018

Institute for the Handicapped and Backward People (IHBP) was founded in the year 2001 by
Dr. M. A. Hasan Sahani, who is himself a differently able person. Our Organization has been running the Special School for the Disabled since 2001 and imparting quality education, training and rehabilitation to poor differently able and vulnerable children of the society free of cost. The Organization is also running many other projects of social importance like Community Based Service, Tailoring, Computer Training Centre, Vocational Training to name a few. The Organization is also running a School namely “Behala Vivekananda Institution” which has been granted recognition without financial assistance by the School Education Department, Govt. of West Bengal and affiliated under WBBSE and WBCHSE. Our differently able students have been appearing in the Madhyamik Pariksha (Class X) (Normal Syllabus) since 2017 under W.B.B.S.E. alongside normal students and more than 90% students have successfully passed which is indeed a matter of pride.

 

With sincere effort and dedication of Dr. M. A. Hasan Sahani and his staff, people are aware about the Organization and the nature and area of work. For its services to mankind, the Organization has got recognition from public and private organization and has won many notable awards in the past including the prestigious State Award for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities 2013, in the category of Outstanding Institution for its sincere and dedicated serviced rendered for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities.

We are proud to special mention that for its dedicated and sincere work towards the Socially and Economically Backward people and Persons with Disabilities, Institute for the Handicapped and Backward People was awarded the prestigious “Thakur Harichand Guruchand Puraskar 2018-19” by Backward Classes Welfare & Tribal Development Directorate, Government of West Bengal on 8th March 2019 at Madhusudan Mancha, Kolkata. Dr. M. A. Hasan Sahani, the Founder Director of IHBP received the award on behalf of the Organization.

With awards and recognition comes responsibility. Institute for the Handicapped and Backward people is committed to serve the differently able, vulnerable women, girls and people from the socio-economic backward background and mankind in general.
